Valencia coach Unai Emery stressed the importance of the 4-1 Primera Liga win over Villarreal as his side remain on target for a UEFA Champions League place.
Los Che consolidated their position in third spot in La Liga thanks to a brace from David Villa and one each from David Silva and Ever Banega, leaving a five point gap to Mallorca who sit in fourth.
"I think against an opponent who have played some good matches so far, we've been very focussed and very compact in defence and attack. Furthermore, after the sending off and 2-0 in our favour, we were able to stay on top," he declared at a press conference after the game.
"There are things to improve. At home we have dropped a lot of points and we settled down to consolidate the qualification [for the Champions League].
"We took off a little pressure off at home. The key to what we do in the league will depend on the points we get at home. Today, after the elimination from the Copa [del Rey], it was an important time to get a win at home."
