Pochettino Proud Of Espanyol Despite Valencia Loss

Los Periquitos lost in the last minute...

Mauricio Pochettino, Espanyol (PA)
Espanyol suffered a heartbreaking last minute loss at the Mestalla, but Mauricio Pochettino was pleased with his charges.

Speaking to Marca after the match, Pochettino said, "We are unhappy that we lost, but aware that we played a great game, with a lot of effort."

"To win here, you have to convert your two or three chances. Albelda should have been sent off in the first half, which would have given us an advantage, but I do not want to blame the referee for the loss.

"In the second half, they tried to score with Zigic, and they did."

Espanyol remain in 14th place, pending other results.
