Real Madrid defender Ezequiel Garay has revealed his delight with the club's decision not to enter the transfer market in order to find a replacement for Pepe.

The Portuguese defender sustained a knee injury earlier this months and will be sidelined for about six months. Therefore, many expected Real to buy an extra defender in the winter transfer window.

"It feels like a vote of confidence that the club has decided not to sign any new players. There have been a lot of rumours linking Real with several defenders lately," said Garay to Spanish reporters.

"Now it's up to Christoph Metzelder, Raul Albiol and me to show that we're up for the challenge."

Garay has made seven league appearances so far this season, scoring once. The Argentine defender helped Real to the full three points in the away game against Valencia by netting a late winner.
