Betis Summer Plans Revealed - Sporting Director

There will be plenty of activity at Real Betis this summer and the club's sporting director has given an insight into what may happen...

Mariano Pavone - Betis

Real Betis are busy planning their summer rebuilding plans and the club's sporting director has revealed who the club could have, may do and want to buy and sell.

Manuel Momparlet is one of the key men responsible for the comings and goings at the Andalucian outfit and he is looking forward to a summer of letting some stars leave and signing others.

Nikola Zigic will not be joining, but Mariano Pavone wil be staying although he could leave if the price is right and follow Mark Gonzalez and David Odonkor out of the club.

"Zigic is one option that we had," Momparlet told AS. "But the coach felt that the player did not have the characteristics that he wanted.

"Pavone is a player that we count on 100 per cent. When he arrived here he was the top scorer in Argentina and a lot of European clubs wanted him.

"Could he go? At any time because he is not playing regularly and there are several offers on the table for him. We have had one offer from Argentina worth €5 million.

"Mark [Gonzalez] is a player that we rate highly at Betis. We have offers for him, but we do not want to make a mistake if we sell him. The same could be said about Odonkor."

Club captain Juanito can leave Betis on a free transfer this summer and has been reported to have reached a deal to move to Atletico de Madrid, but Momparlet is unsure about that.

"I do not know if Juanito will go to Atletico. It is an economic question and we are looking into it, but I am sure that he has not arranged anything ith another club, even though that is his privilege," he continued.

Thiago Motta has been linked with Betis too, but Momparlet has strenuously denied that the club have any intention of making an approach for the Genoa midfielder.

"I have seen that published and I have to say that there is no reality in it is at all. We have absolutely no interest in signing him," he added.
