Real Zaragoza President And Leadership Team All Resign - Report

After a dreadful first half of the season, Zaragoza's top brass is being reshuffled...

Eduardo Bandres, Zaragoza
Eduardo Bandres, president of Real Zaragoza, has announced his resignation as president of the club in a press conference today. Also leaving their posts are his entire staff of advisers, according to a report in AS.

The majority shareholder of the club, Agapito Iglesias, assumes charge from now on, and in the next few days will propose his own staff.

Bandres assumed responsibility for "all the errors we have committed", and announced that continuing as president would have been difficult to justify. He also asked for "the players to take responsibility and rise to the history of the shirt they wear".

In the press conference, Bandres did not permit questions, instead reading an official statement, which explained that the reigns will now be taken by Iglesias. "I go without bitterness and with more friends than when I arrived. The important thing now is to save the team. There will be time to think about the future. Right now, I hope to only speak of football."

Zaragoza are currently in the relegation zone, having earned just 12 points in the first 15 matches.
