Returning to the Camp Nou as part of Argentina's squad to face Catalunya in today's international friendly, Real Madrid's Gonzalo Higuain issued comments to Spanish sports daily AS regarding his goals for the new year ahead.
Although it is a friendly match, the youngster was adamant that he won't be taking it lightly. "For me, it is an important match. If not, I would not have come. It is my national team, it's an important match for the World Cup and there is a lot of footballing competence over there [Catalunya].
With respect to his current position as a fixture in Manuel Pellegrini's Real Madrid starting XI, Higuain expressed contentment. "I am feeling very well, how could I not be?! I am finding the goal, I have already scored 10, the team is playing more entertaining football and we are playing well collectively and as individuals.
"The challenge is La Liga and the Champions League and I'm confident that the team will be prepared to take them on. I want those titles as well as the Pichichi (top scorer in La Liga). At the moment I am in the hunt and that is something special for which to fight and do things well".
After starting slowly, Higuain has picked up on his breakout season last year and has been in spectacular form, scoring an average of one goal every 78 minutes in league play.
