Espanyol 2-0 Almeria

With their 2-0 home win, Espanyol jumped three points clear of a poor Almeria side who are now just one off the dropzone.

Almeria had a decent first half, but right before the break a Marquez volley after an excellent Verdu cross stunned the visitors.

Espanyol strolled from there on in, Verdu hitting the bar, before Coro pounced on a parried Marquez effort to hit home the second at the death.

Malaga 2-1 Real Mallorca

An injury-hit Mallorca side put in a terrible shift to lose out to a Malaga side now edging towards the survival places.

23 minutes in Fernando was gifted the opener after Dudu Aouate misjudged the flight of the ball and collided with his own defender.

Ten minutes after the break Julio Alvarez levelled matters with a simple finish as Malaga failed to clear their lines.

But substitute Fernando Forestieri took advantage of another Aouate howler to seal the win late on.

Real Valladolid 2-1 Sporting Gijon

A last-gasp goal from the excellent Haris Medunjanin sealed a much-needed victory for the Pucela at home to Sporting.

Luis Moran put the visitors on track for a win early on after bundling home following a deflected free-kick.

Nivaldo, however, was able to equalise on the half hour mark from a header after Canobbio's cross.

Then Medunjanin became the hero of frozen Valladolid with a great solo effort that left Juan Pablo stranded.
