Gerard Pique Urges Barcelona To Maintain High Standards
The Spanish international has demanded that the club do not drop in standards...
Lionel Messi’s late goal in extra-time handed coach Pep Guardiola his sixth title as Blaugrana coach, and maintained the Catalan side’s bid to win a record-breaking number of trophies in a single season.
Former Manchester United defender Pique reflected to journalists after the match that his side must continue to move forward.
He said, “It’s clear that we’re the team who have had the best year in history, but if we are great, we have to continue winning.”
Colleague Zlatan Ibrahimovic echoed Pique’s comments, adding that he has hugely enjoyed his brief time with the European champions.
He stated, “This is fantastic. It’s enjoyable to make history, although I’ve only been at Barcelona for a little time.
“Barcelona have won everything, I hope to continue like that and we continue playing how we have been playing.
“One of the reasons I came to Barcelona was to win titles.”
