World Cup 2010: Vicente Del Bosque Declares Pedro Is A Serious Candidate For Spain Squad

Del Bosque is impressed with the Barcelona striker's form…

Things just keep on getting better for Barcelona star Pedro. Having just become the first player to score in six different competitions in a single season, he is now on the verge of making the Spanish World Cup squad.

“Pedro is a serious candidate for a place at the finals in South Africa,” Spain coach Vincente del Bosque told Sport.es following Barcelona’s Club World Cup victory over Mexican side Atlante.

A place in the World Cup squad would cap an impressive first couple of seasons in the Barcelona first team for the 22-year-old who was on the verge of being shipped out of the club before Pep Guardiola’s appointment.

Following a poor end of season report from Barca’s youth team management less than two years ago, the club were looking to sell, or at least send him away on a loan deal, before Guardiola intervened.

Del Bosque went on to heap more praise on the young forward stating, “Pedro can go to the World Cup and has been very impressive in all these competitions in which he has scored."
