Real Madrid's Emilio Butragueno: We Will Not Sign For The Sake Of Signing
The former Madrid and Spain great has spoken of Los Blancos' possibilities of signing in the winter...
Real Madrid's sporting director Emilio Butragueno has spoken of the club's potential movements during the winter transfer window at the presentation of a book about Portuguese starlet Cristiano Ronaldo, 'Sueños Cumplidos' (Dreams Realised), as reported by Marca.
In the wake of Portuguese central defender Pepe's season-ending knee injury, the Spaniard said that the club was "assessing the winter transfer market" but that they "would not sign for the sake of signing".
"Pepe is an incredible player and it will be difficult to replace him," continued the former Madrid great, "but this is Real Madrid and we have a lot of players in the team that can step up to the challenge. In the last match against Valencia, [Ezequiel] Garay had a splendid match".
When asked about Cristiano Ronaldo, the club official had nothing but praise for the Portuguese starlet. "He has recovered from his injury in a surprising manner. It is not normal to be in such great form after spending seven weeks out with injury and only having trained for five days. Against Barcelona, he was one of the best. The truth is that he is extremely physically gifted."
