Real Madrid's Ruud Van Nistelrooy Has Tonsilitis Surgery Ahead Of Possible Chelsea Move
Van Nistelrooy has had his painful throat dealt with ahead of a possible January move to Chelsea.
For much of the season, Ruud Van Nistelrooy has been sidelined with one ailment or another. The latest knock, however, is unrelated to football as the Dutchman has undergone an operation for tonsilitis, which was performed successfully, according to the club's official website.
Even when not injured, Van Nistelrooy has found playing time difficult to come by as Manuel Pellegrini has favoured Gonzalo Higuain, Karim Benzema, Cristiano Ronaldo and Raul in the Blancos attack.
It is rumoured that with Pepe's recent season-ending knee injury, Madrid may explore the opportunity to swap the Dutchman for Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho. Such a move could serve both parties well as Chelsea's Dider Drogba is set to play for Ivory Coast in January's African Cup of Nations and Van Nistelrooy is looking for more regular football with the hope of earning a spot in the Dutch national squad for next summer's World Cup.
