Ahead of Wednesday's Club World Cup clash between Mexican side Atlante and Spanish titans Barcelona, Atlante defender Daniel Arreola has issued a challenging statement that his side "should not respect Barcelona on the pitch".

In comments reported by FIFA's official website, the defender had nothing but good things to say about the Blaugrana, calling Barca "the best club in the world" and continued by saying "we should give them all of our repect. But on the pitch, we should not respect them and there is no reason why we should not try to face them one-on-one."

"It is true that we would rather have played them in the final, but we have them now in the semi-finals. Physically, we are well and in terms of football, we feel prepared. We will take our chances and we'll flip the coin and find out on which side it lands." finished the 25-year-old.

Arreola scored one of his side's three goals in defeating Auckland City in the quarter-finals and is widely regarded as a very technical player who likes to take on defences and test the keeper with powerful long-range efforts.
