Manolo Jimenez Pleased With Sevilla Win Over Sporting Gijon
Los Nervionenses coach says few teams win at El Molinon...
Sevilla coach Manolo Jimenez praised his side for their hard fought victory over Sporting Gijon at El Molinon.
Frederic Kanoute scored the only goal of the game early in the first half as Los Nervionenses battled to take all three points against Sporting and put themselves back into third spot in the Primera Liga race.
"It is a venue where very few teams win," Jimenez stated at a press conference after the game.
"We are obliged to challenge Barcelona and Real Madrid for titles and Sevilla know that we must fight to be up there."
The coach was also full of praise for Marc Valiente who made the step up from the Sevilla B team and came off the bench to replace the injured Adriano.
"He came in at a difficult time and stood tall, which confirms the reserves team's ability to help our effort," he noted.
