I Have Fond Memories Of Villarreal But Atletico Madrid Must Beat Them - Diego Forlan

The Uruguayan is looking forward to facing his former team, but will not let his emotions distract him from the task at hand...

Atletico Madrid striker Diego Forlan will be facing his past when Los Rojiblancos host Villarreal at the Vicente Calderon on Sunday, and he admitted that he still has some good memories of his old club.

"It will soon be three years [since I left]," he explained to El Mundo Deportivo.

"Obviously I have some very fond memories and they were three great years at Villarreal, but now I'm here. I have great affection and gratitude to the people of Villarreal. It's always nice to play against that team."

Atletico suffered an abysmal start to the season that saw them in and around the relegation zone for the early stages, but two wins on the bounce has seen them start to climb the standings.

Despite his fondness for El Submarino Amarillo, Forlan insists that he will be pulling out all the stops to help Los Colchoneros continue their run tomorrow.

"We will try to win. It's nice to play Villarreal, because they play good football, have great players and play good matches. It's not just another game, but I am at Atletico and right now, we have to win."
