Valencia coach Unai Emery had a momentary lapse before the Spanish press today as he tried to outline the flaws of this weekend's opponents...

Valencia coach Unai Emery backed himself into a corner in today's press conference ahead of his side's Liga match against Real Madrid at La Mestalla on Saturday.

"Real Madrid have many weaknesses", began the coach before pausing then adding "this is all that is going to make the newspaper and radio headlines".

The coach amended his comments with "Where do Real Madrid fail? In many ways, like every other team. One can find many weak points, but it depends on us to find them. We also have weaknesses and we have to make it so that they do not find them".

Continuing to talk of Madrid's play, the Basque coach lauded Pellegrini's team as being on a par with Barcelona: "Real Madrid is a great team and exhibit a very offensive style of play that any spectator would like".

Very diplomatically, Emery avoided comparing Valencia striker and Madrid summer target David Villa with the visitors' Karim Benzema, bought as a result of Los Blancos' failure to land Villa, saying: "Villa has many virtues but Benzema has many as well. One of Villa's best virtues is his motivation in every match he plays... he is very competitve".

The coach also measured his words when it came to the absences of Valencia's David Silva and Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo & Kaka from the match: "The important thing is to concern ourselves with those who are in the match; both teams have important players missing, but we intend to play and win".
