Real Madrid's Guti Avoids The Operating Table...For Now
The Madrid midfielder has been out of action since October 17, suffering from a recurring injury...
Real Madrid's Guti has undergone a new series of tests that confirm the club vice-captain is recovering well from the quadricep injury that has kept him out of action for nearly two months.
The latest news means there is no need for the Spaniard to undergo surgery, instead he'll receive for physical therapy. The official diagnosis of the injury is described as a "small hematoma in the left quadricep" which will need to heal completely before the midfielder is able to return to training.
Guti has been out since October 17, partly due to a setback in November when he had seemed set to return to action. He is not expected to be available for selection until 2010, meaning an extended run in the first team for Rafael Van der Vaart, who has enjoyed extra midfield duties in the Spaniard's absence.
