Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola had nothing but praise for Argentine starlet Lionel Messi following Barca's 2-1 victory over Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League.

With the score tied at 1-1 in the 86th minute, Messi blasted home a free kick from just outside the area to give his side the win and secure the top spot in Group F. "It is true that when in certain situations like the one we were in, Leo's influence is very important for us", commented the Barcelona coach, who also praised his team for their effort in finishing atop a "terribly difficult group."

Once concern for Guardiola was the sight of Messi limping off the pitch with an ankle sprain. The Ballon d'Or winner is now a doubt for the Barcelona derby against Espanyol at the Camp Nou on Saturday.
