With Cristiano Ronaldo ruled out of Saturday's pivotal encounter against Valencia at La Mestalla, Real Madrid coach Manuel Pellegrini looks set to name Karim Benzema in the starting XI.

According to Spanish sports daily AS, the Chilean has opted not to change his system of play despite the absences of both Kaka (groin injury) and Cristiano Ronaldo (suspension) from the starting line-up.

As a result, the French striker will have the opportunity to impress his coach from minute one having started on the bench in Madrid's last four competitive matches.

As it stands, the starting line-up in Saturday's match is set to comprise of Casillas in goal, Sergio Ramos, Pepe, Albiol and Arbeloa in defence, Lassana Diarra, Xabi Alonso, Rafael Van der Vaart and Marcelo in midfield with Gonzalo Higuain paired with Benzema up front.
