Unai Emery Pleased With Valencia Display In Win Over Athletic Bilbao

Valencia coach Unai Emery said his team delivered as he expected against Athletic Bilbao at San Mames but admitted that it was a tough game for Los Che, who now sit in third spot in the Primera Liga.

Jeremy Mathieu gave Los Che the win after David Villa had cancelled out 16-year-old Iker Muniain's second half goal.

"It was a tough game, in line with what we expected. Athletic can always do something and at all times you have to have 100 per cent concentration," he said afterwards, according to Super Deporte.

"The second half was much better and we were accurate in front of goal. We were faster and have played in the way we want."

The Basque-born coach also said the win puts his team in an "ideal" situation ahead of next week's meeting with Real Madrid.

"It is an attractive contest, even more so now. It's a game to enjoy," Emery noted.
