thumbnail Hello,

Los Che grab a sixth away win in seven attempts to go third and Goal.com rated the performers at San Mames out of ten in an exciting Primera Liga clash...

ATHLETIC BILBAO

Gorka Iraizoz - 6: Almost got an equaliser in stoppage time and did little wrong between the sticks.

Andoni Iraola - 6.5: Battled hard to keep Pablo Hernandez and Juan Mata at bay and it was little surprise the visitors did best down the opposite wing. Good performance.

Mikel San Jose- 5.5: Struggled early on but got to grips with the game, let Villa get away from him on a couple of occasions including for the equaliser.

Fernando Amorebieta - 6:
Saved his side on a number of occasions with some vital interceptions, a solid display but must take responsibility for how Nikola Zigic found so much space in the build up to Mathieu's goal.

Koikili - 4.5: Valencia enjoyed much fruit down his wing and it was no surprise that he picked up two yellows. Under pressure from the start until his sending off.

Pablo Orbaiz - 5.5: Worked hard but struggled to get the better of Bruno down the left wing. Had some good moments but an average showing overall.

Javi Martinez - 6: Was at the centre of everything good Bilbao did, won the late penalty and probably should have taken it in hindsight.

Markel Susaeta - 6: Busy throughout, showed great energy but usually thrives on supporting Llorente, who went off injured.

Francisco Yeste - 5.5: Decent deliveries from set pieces but did little else to impress over the 90 minutes.

David Lopez - 5: Drifted in and out of the game. Rammed the penalty against the post to throw away a point.

Fernando Llorente - 5.5: Was a handful for Dealbert and Navarro until his injury and his physical presence was missed after the break.

Substitutes:

Oscar De Marcos - 6.5: Started really well after coming on and although he faded in the second half, he was a threat throughout.

Iker Muniain - 7:
Was alert to take the goal chance and skinned Miguel late on but couldn't find the necessary finish. A livewire and a hero already at San Mames.

Ander Itturaspe - 6.5:
Fresh legs added something extra just when Bilbao needed it, not brilliant but more effective than Orbaiz.

VALENCIA

Cesar - 6: Perhaps could have done better with Martinez's effort but parried and Muniain pounced. Got down well for the penalty and may have stopped it had it not hit the post.

Bruno - 6.5: Very solid at the back and looks to have made the right back berth his own.

David Navarro - 6:
Always a threat from set pieces. Had a poor finish to the game, conceding a penalty and putting Cesar under pressure with a blind back pass late on.

Dealbert - 6.5: Solid in defence, would have been more interesting had Llorente remained on the field but no complaints about this performance.

Jeremy Mathieu - 7.5: Prioritises defending over attacking but when the opportunity presents itself, gets forward to good effect. Clinical finish for the winning goal.

David Albelda - 6.5: Tidy performance in the middle, conceded a couple of needless free-kicks but a good performance overall.

Carlos Marchena - 7.5:
Ran the show from the centre of the field, excellent distribution as well as breaking up anything Bilbao produced. Dominated from start to finish.

Joaquin - 6.5: Showed flashes of his old self but needs to build consistency if he is to make an impression in David Silva's absence.

Juan Mata - 6.5: Great set piece delivery and linked well with Villa and Pablo but quieter than expected in his 100th game for Los Che. Probably should have scored in the first half.

Pablo Hernandez - 7.5:
Valencia's most consistent attacking force, he popped up everywhere, particularly in the first half. Made Villa's goal and was a threat throughout.

David Villa - 7: Should have scored before Muniain gave Bilbao the lead but took his goal with a typical Villa finish. Was in and out of the game but did what he gets paid to do, scored.

Substitutes:

Nikola Zigic - 6.5: Offered a different threat up front and was a real handful for Bilbao, his presence lead to Mathieu's winner.
