Three Points Were What Mattered Against Xerez - Barcelona Defender Daniel Alves
The Brazilian bemoans the patchy Andalusian playing surface...
Barcelona defender Daniel Alves has insisted that the three points were all that mattered after the Blaugrana produced a lacklustre display in their 2-0 win away to Xerez in the Primera Liga.
The champions go five points clear at the top of the Primera Liga thanks to second half goals from Thierry Henry and Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Alves said that his team were forced to abandon their normal passing came because of the quality of the pitch.
"It was a very tough match after El Clasico and is a very important and hard fought victory. We were weak in the first half but the important thing was to win and that's what we did. The team is great physically," he declared.
"We tried to play more direct than usual because of the state of the turf, but the important thing was to win and we did it with hard work. The success we had last year was as a result of games like this and we must continue in this manner."
