Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola has called on his players to deliver three points away to Xerez on Wednesday night if they want to repeat the success of last season.

The trip to Andalusia has been brought forward due to Barcelona's involvement in the FIFA Club World Cup later this month, giving the champions the chance to open up a five point lead at the top of the Primera Liga.

"If we really want to repeat a very good year we must win," he told a press conference.

"We are the only ones who play tomorrow and we can take advantage. We have had a hard time playing these games against these teams [lower in the table]. Last year we managed to pass such tests, and now would not be a good time to change that dynamic."

The Blaugrana coach also expressed his annoyance at the scheduling of consecutive Barcelona fixtures at 10pm, ahead of their trip to Kiev in the UEFA Champions League next week.

"There are problems for recuperating the following day and maintaining the right eating habits and then we have a four hour trip to keep ourselves in Europe," he declared.
