Barcelona president Joan Laporta saw summer signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic come off the bench to score the only goal of the game against Real Madrid on Sunday, and he was understandably delighted with the result.
The Blaugrana supremo told El Mundo Deportivo that the performance in el Clasico was "a reflection" on the club's history and ideals, "because they fought and battled in some very difficult conditions."
With hundreds of millions of euros' worth of talent on display at the Camp Nou last night, Laporta believes that it was "the best image of what the Spanish league is about".
Barcelona have now won the last three consecutive meetings with their fiercest rivals and are back on top of the table, but Laporta is wary of talk of his side dominating the domestic scene.
"I believe that talking about hegemony at this stage of the season would be neither respectful nor prudent," he mused.
"However, we can note that we have a well built team and assumed an old fashioned style that is allowing us to enjoy some of the best moments in Barca's history."
