Almeria 1-4 Athletic Bilbao

Athletic Bilbao were in superb form this afternoon as they thumped Almeria 3-0 at the Estadio Mediterraneo.

Midfielder Javi Martinez netted prior to half-time following a teasing delivery from Francisco Yeste, and Alde Ustaritz doubled the advantage two minutes later, bundling home from close range.

Almeria have been in inconsistent form this season, particularly at home, and it was no surprise when striker Fernando Llorente nodded home a third to seal the win for the impressive Basque side.

Oscar netted a fourth before Kala Uche managed a late consolation.

Geatfe 5-1 Xerez

The Madrid side hammered hapless Xerez thanks to a second half goal glut and an excellent individual performance from former Real Madrid striker Roberto Soldado.

The striker netted a hat-trick, scoring either side of half-time, and when David Prieto was dismissed for the visitors Getafe ran riot thanks to goals from Daniel Parejo and Francisco Casquero.

Xerez’s poor run continues and they now drop to the bottom of the division with just one win all season.

Racing Santander 0-1 Deportivo La Coruna

A late Alberto Lopo strike handed Miguel Angel Lotina's Deportivo side yet another win on the road as they keep track with the leading sides in La Liga.

Lopo scrambled the ball home from inside the penalty area following a corner from Riki, and that proved enough to see off a Racing side who suffered yet another poor result.

They find themselves in the relegation zone following the loss, having won just two matches in the entire campaign, and it is worrying times for the Cantabria club.

Real Zaragoza 0-1 Osasuna

A first-half goal from Javad Nekounam proved to be the difference between the sides in Zaragoza as Osasua grabbed a crucial away win.

The Iranian struck on 27 minutes, nodding home from close range, to move the Pamplona side well clear of the relegation zone.

Despite the home side's best efforts they could not forge a way back into the match, and the win edges Osasuna three points clear of their opponents.

Valladolid 3-3 Tenerife

In an exciting game at the Jose Zorilla, the Pucela let a three-goal lead slip before Tenerife mounted an incredible comeback to secure a share of the spoils.

A Diego da Silva double either side of a Fabian Canobbio spot kick had given Valladolid a comfortable lead, but they managed to self-destruct in a frantic final half hour that saw the visitors astonishingly draw level.

Goals from Juan Francisco Martinez, Angel, and Garcia Ayoze five minutes from time brought the island side back from the dead to grab a crucial point, and heap more misery on under-fire Valladolid boss Jose Luis Mendilibar.

Barcelona - Real Madrid (k.o. 7pm CET)

Atletico Madrid - Espanyol (k.o. 9pm CET)
