Barcelona Supremo Joan Laporta: Anything Can Happen In El Clasico
The boss hopes we are in for an intriguing fixture, but added that it could go either way...
The Spanish giants do battle with just a point separating them in the La Liga table, making this fixture an indicator of where the league title may ultimately reside at the end of the season.
Laporta told journalists prior to the match he hopes that the supporters can guide the side to victory.
He said, “Playing at home means we usually get the support of our audience, and the atmosphere they create. Maybe it gives us more morale, and maybe we have more to gain, but I do not think that we are favourites.
“Anything can happen in this match.”
Laporta also ensured that the club’s followers were realistic at this stage of the season, ensuring them that titles are not won or lost at this point of the season.
He added, “I do not want to talk of titles at this stage of the campaign. We must take great caution and humility in order to keep the motivation level as high as last season. This is no time to be thinking of trophies.”
