The United States-born Azzurri striker has been linked with a move away from Villarreal in the winter transfer window, but he is unlikely to go anywhere until the summer at least.
Agent Andrea Pastorello confirmed that Rossi was thinking only about impressing Marcello Lippi and that a move to Russia, where the league season is almost finished would not be beneficial.
"A move to Russia does not seem a good choice at this point in his career, for the decision of Lippi for the World Cup," he was quoted as saying by tuttomercatoweb.
"Back in Italy? Maybe if there was an opportunity, and the same applies to other situations in Spain."
Pastorello then revealed that a move could be considered at the end of the current campaign after a deal was spoken about involving David Trezeguet before the seaon kicked off.
"At this moment we have no contact with Italian teams. Last summer there was a conversation he had with Juventus describing the situation of Trezeguet," he continued.
"There had been talk of a possible exchange with Rossi but the salary of Trezeguet was a problem for a team like Villarreal.
"I think Rossi will stay at Villarreal in January. Players of this type usually move in the summer market."
