Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has slammed his side's current situation as abnormal and is demanding that they win the next three games in order to turn their season around.
Los Colchoneros are currently in the relegation zone on seven points, just one point off basement side Malaga. They are also three points behind 16th-placed Tenerife, and Cerezo is concerned about the length of time it is taking for them to move up the table.
"We have a difficult week ahead, but I hope that at some point we can get out of the rut we are in," he explained to the club's official website.
"We are going to try and put this to rights, and in order to do that we must win. This season has been very complicated. It's not normal that a team like Atletico Madrid, with the players that we have, has only picked up seven points.
"Our immediate objectives are clear - we must beat APOEL, Espanyol and Xerez. The solution is to win and the players know it. They have the feeling that things aren't going right, and they don't like it. But we must look forwards and get out of this bad moment as soon as possible."
Atletico have already been knocked out of the Champions League, but can still secure a place in the Europa League by finishing third. They are currently on two points in Group D, while APOEL are on one. The two sides meet in Nicosia on Wednesday at 20:45 CET.
