Real Madrid playmaker Kaka has insisted that his team are better than Barcelona, despite acknowledging that the Blaugrana have played the better football and he added that the champions are "in trouble" at present.

Barca dropped points away to Athletic Bilbao at the weekend following a 1-1 draw allowing Los Merengues to leapfrog the champions into first place in the league thanks to a 1-0 win over Racing Santander at Camp Nou.

Following midweek Champions League obligations, all attention turns to El Clasico at Camp Nou on Sunday and the Brazilian says that his side is hoping to take a four point lead at the top of the Primera Liga on Sunday.

"Barcelona play better than us because they have played together for a long time and that makes the difference, the understanding between the players needs time. So Barcelona play better, but we are better. We are leaders," he declared, according to Sport.

"I do not think Barcelona are the favourites [in El Clasico], we are first and they are in trouble. It's good to get a point lead and if we win we take a four point lead. The league is very long and we have many games but it's always good to be first."
