Real Mallorca coach Gergorio Manzano praised the performance of his players after the 3-1 victory against Almeria at the ONO Estadi this afternoon, a result that moves the Islanders into the top six in the Primera Division.

All of the goals arrived in the second half, and Gonzalo Castro netted the first of his double just after half time. However, David Rodriguez looked to have given the visitors a point when he equalised 13 minutes from time.

But Manzano’s side were not to be denied, and in the injury time Victor Casadesus and Castro’s second secured a 3-1 win.

The wily tactician could not hide his joy, and at the post match press conference he said, “It was a tough game and we knew it would be. We took our chances today and they did not, which has led to the difference between the teams.

“I am very happy and satisfied with the win, and these are a vital three points in our battle for survival.”

Mallorca have now won six consecutive Primera Division matches this season, and their next outing is a trip to the Mestalla to face Valencia next Sunday.
