Atletico Madrid Boss Quique Sanchez Flores Refuses To Criticize Referee After Deportivo La Coruna Loss
The Colchonero boss did not want to comment on the controversial penalty...
Atletico Madrid's players were enraged at the referee's decision to offer Deportivo a last minute penalty, but Quique Sanchez Flores refused to enter into the controversy.
There were ugly scenes at the Riazor, as Cleber Santana got sent off while Kun Aguero had to be restricted by the coaching staff. Speaking to Marca, however, Flores said, "We did not expect that ending, but these things happen in football."
"It is my custom not to comment on the referee's actions. We all make mistakes."
Flores then discussed Atleti's future in the league, continuing, "We know that it will be difficult to recover in the league."
"There are signs of improvement, but we also lacked confidence. Today we played against one of the best teams in the league.
"We did not play well after the goal, but we dominated the second half and deserved more."
Atletico are currently in 18th place on 7 points, and could even finish the weekend at the bottom of the table, if Xerez and Malaga win.
