Player Ratings: Real Madrid 1-0 Racing Santander
Los Merengues claimed a narrow victory over Racing at the Bernabeu, and Goal.com was on hand to rate the players...
Real Madrid
Iker Casillas - 6: Didn't have any tough saves to make, didn't make any mistakes either.
Alvaro Arbeloa - 5: Provided an attacking threat at times, but allowed Canales far too much space once he came on.
Pepe - 6: Generally solid, but was troubled by Tchite at times.
Ezequiel Garay - 7: Looked calm and composed at the back, and provided the assist for Higuain.
Marcelo - 7: A solid game in defence, forced Racing to focus their attack down the other flank.
Xabi Alonso - 7: Unlucky not to score when he hit the post, and controlled the game well.
Esteban Granero - 7: Involved throughout, provided a constant threat but his set pieces were generally poor.
Kaka - 6: Largely restricted to shots from distance, albeit very dangerous ones.
Royston Drenthe - 7: An improved performance down the left flank, where he caused plenty of problems and stopped Racing attacking down that side.
Gonzalo Higuain - 8: Another commanding performance, took his goal well and was a constant menace.
Karim Benzema - 5: Another fairly anonymous performance apart from his correctly disallowed goal.
Substitutes
Raul - 4: Came on with plenty of time left, but hardly touched the ball.
Mahamadou Diarra - N/A
Rafael Van Der Vaart - N/A
Racing Santander
Tono - 8: Kept his side in it with a string of spectacular saves.
Pablo Pinillos - 6: Was given a tough time by Drenthe, but kept his cool and did not make any rash challenges.
Nasief Morris - 5: Handled the attack well for most of the game, but was missing for the goal.
Marc Torrejon - 6: Stopped a lot of attacks at vital moments, but could have done more to stop the goal.
Christian - 5: Allowed Granero far too much space on the right, which also led to the goal.
Pedro Munitis - 4: Showed some nice touches, but lacks the pace to influence these big games any more.
Gonzalo Colsa - 6: A typical Colsa performance, did well to restrict the opposition largely to long shots.
Mehdi Lacen - 6: Seemed to spend most of the match defending, which he did well, but hardly helped out going forward.
Oscar Serrano - 3: Completely anonymous, and it was no surprise when he was replaced.
Luis Garcia - 6: Did well with little support, and provided a spectacular assist for the incorrectly disallowed goal.
Mohamed Tchite - 7: Had virtually no support, but still managed to worry the defence, thanks to his blistering pace.
Substitutes
Sergio Canales - 7: An immediate threat after coming on, was desperatly unlucky to see his goal ruled out.
Henrique - 5: Didn't do his chances of impressing his parent club, Barcelona any favours with a few rash tackles.
Alex Geijo - N/A
