Atletico Madrid Boss Quique Flores Expects A Difficult Game Against Deportivo La Coruna
He says Depor have made a great start to the season...
Atletico Madrid coach Quique Flores has warned that his team must play very well if they are to get a positive result against Deportivo La Coruna in the Primera Liga.
The two sides meet at the Riazor, with Atleti struggling at the wrong end of the table while Depor are flying high in fifth place just a couple of points off the Champions League places.
"Winning would be great to end a week that began pathetically [referring to his absence due to swine flu], but it's a very difficult game and we will need a high performance level. They [Deportivo] are getting very good results and have had very good start," he told a press conference.
"They have a group that works well with the same coach [Miguel Angel Lotina] for many years. We must do things very well if we are to get something positive. It is a very solid team, that is often happy to concede possession and counter when their opponent makes a mistake."
Flores has already stated that he wants Atletico in the top seven in La Liga and they will need to take something from this game to start climbing the table.
The coach also said he doesn't expect the H1N1 virus to spread to his players as he has "already recovered" and added that he "contracted the virus away from training".
