Barcelona Defender Gabriel Milito Overjoyed With Return To Action
The Argentine is not quite ready for a competitive match, but he is making "great strides" towards a full recovery...
After 18 months on the sidelines with injury, Gabriel Milito returned to action for Barcelona for 45 minutes in their 4-1 friendly win against Bolivar.
Although it was a far cry from a return to competitive action with the Blaugrana, the Argentine was understandably delighted with taking to the pitch once again.
"It was a very special day, I recovered the old feelings after so long without playing," he is quoted as saying by Sport.
Milito has been training with the rest of the team for around a month, and explained that "things have changed a lot recently" and that he now has "a lot more confidence, security and optimism".
"I am taking great strides, although I know that I am still recovering," he said. "I still need time to play a competitive game. I don't know exactly how much, but I need a bit."
The 29-year-old also extended his gratitude to the numerous doctors and physios who have helped him recover from his cruciate ligament injury, also thanking the Blaugrana for their support during his problem-plagued spell with the club.
