I Want Austria To Play Like Spain - Coach Dietmar Constantini
He says technical ability is better than physical power...
Constantini has coached the Austrian side since March of this year and intends, as a part of the rebuilding process, to get the team to overcome the German influence in their style of play and replicate the technical prowess of the Spaniards.
"Austria is rebuilding itself as a team. I have a group of young players and have shown them Spain as the best example of how to play football. Austria has great influence from German football, a style of game where the ball just goes through the midfield. I'd like to play like Spain, because Spain has shown that the technique can be greater than the power."
Despite Spain's prowess Constantini has warned that they will need more than footballing ability to capture the World Cup crown in South Africa next summer.
"Spain is the best team in Europe and is among the favourites to win the World Cup, but as well as playing well and scoring goals, at a World Cup you need a good dose of luck in the moves within the area and also with posts and the referees," he noted.
