Chelsea are lining up a mega double swoop for David Villa and Sergio Ramos in January after being given a reprieve on their transfer ban, according to a report in The Daily Star.

The Audacious plan has been hatched after the Blues saw their suspension on buying or selling players lifted, and now they aim to spend big.

Despite Valencia's desire to hold on to Villa after resisting offers in the summer, Chelsea are set to test their mettle by offering around €35 million.

Real Madrid may meet the London club's interest in Ramos with scorn, but if €25m is put on the table then the Spanish giants may have to at least listen.

Blues' chief Roman Abramovich had stated that he was going to spend sensibly from now on, only for him to backtrack due to his desire to push Chelsea to the Champions League trophy.

Club captain John Terry has advised the club to splash the cash in case the suspension of the transfer ban is reversed and no deals can be done for another 18 months.

Chelsea are also linked with a move for Everton youngster Jack Rodwell, who is being monitored by Manchester United.
