Speculation surrounds Fabregas during every international fixture window and this week is no different with club president Joan Laporta and international team-mates Gerard Pique and Xavi all speaking about the possible return of the 22-year-old midfielder.
"Cesc would have his reasons, to go, and would have the same opportunities [with Barcelona] that he has at Arsenal. The market dictates the value and you pay a lot for players of a high level but if he comes I hope we don't pay much," Puyol remarked.
Puyol believes that it is difficult for Fabregas to talk about the possibility of joining Barca because of his commitment to Arsenal but says that should the former Barcelona youth player make a return he will be welcomed by the players.
"It is not easy for him to talk much because he has his club, although it is clear that we would like because he's a great friend and one of the best players in the world. He knows the philosophy of Barcelona very well."
