Barcelona Defender Eric Abidal Out For Three Weeks - Report

The defender was injured in France's World Cup play-off against Ireland...

Eric Abidal - Barcelona
Barcelona full-back Eric Abidal is set to miss up to three weeks of action after he suffered a thigh injury in the first leg of France's World Cup play-off victory against Ireland in Dublin on Saturday.

The 30-year-old defender left the France squad on Sunday to return to Barcelona where he had a scan on his thigh that revealed the full extent of the injury and he will now miss the second leg in Paris on Wednesday.

Barca's medical staff are hoping that Abidal will recover in time for their crucial Primera Liga tie against rivals Real Madrid on November 29, but his availability for that game depends on how the injury responds to physiotherapy in the coming days, according to Sport.

He is certain to miss the trip to San Mames to face Athletic Bilbao this weekend and the crucial UEFA Champions League tie against Inter at Camp Nou next week.
