Barcelona Captain Carles Puyol: We Don't Need Robinho

Carles Puyol has declared that Manchester City star Robinho would be an unnecessary signing for Barcelona, although he recognises the Brazilian's talents on the football pitch.

"He is a great player, but we have very good players in that position like [Thierry] Henry and [Andres] Iniesta, who can also play on the wing. I believe that we have a very complete squad," he announced to Radio Marca.

Puyol has recently signed a new contract with the Blaugrana, having been linked with Manchester City, and insists that he is very happy at the club.

"Before renewing with the club, I asked for some time to think about possibly going abroad.

"In the end I renewed until 2013, but I wanted to be 100 per cent sure before signing. I'm very happy at Barcelona and the club have treated me very well.

However, he has ruled out following in Pep Guardiola's footsteps as he does not feel a coaching role would be right for him.

"I don't want to be either a coach or a president. I believe that being a coach is very hard because of the pressure that the role brings."
