I Am Not Responsible For Real Madrid Order - Xabi Alonso

Though he believes he is a keystone in Los Merengues' side, he doesn't think that he is the only player with a great weight on his shoulders this season...

Garay, Xabi Alonso, Real Madrid (MARCA)
Xabi Alonso does not believe that he is responsible for bringing order to Real Madrid's team, stating simply that he is the link between defence and attack.

The midfielder signed from Liverpool in the summer and is seen as the creative force in the middle of Los Merengues' side.

Though Alonso is enjoying his key role this term, he does not see himself as the player to pull everyone together in Manuel Pellegrini's system.

"One player cannot restore order alone. We have to do it together with one idea," he told Hala Madrid magazine.

"I have that job when playing as a central midfielder because I am closest to all my team-mates and need to be the one to communicate with them.

"The coach asks that I give balance to the midfield and that I search for solutions for my team-mates. I am pleased with the role I have been given and I hope things continue to go well.

"I basically do what I always do. I need to be the link between the defence and attack, I need to make sure the ball moves fast, I need to be in the right place at all times so that the team doesn't collapse."
