Spain's Vicente Del Bosque & David Villa Lavish Praise On Barcelona Midfielder Xavi

The coach describes the playmaker as an 'endangered species'...

Spain coach Vicente Del Bosque has described Barcelona midfielder Xavi as the last of a dying breed ahead of La Furia Roja's friendly with Argentina at the Vicente Calderon.

Xavi made his debut for his country in 200 and has since one 81 caps, putting him amongst the top five all-time capped internationals for Spain and Del Bosque believes he is one of a kind.

"He is an endangered species. He preserves the values of his club, and is also very good player. Xavi has spent years in the football world demonstrating his qualities, one of those players with a great track record behind him," he said, according to Sport.

The praise for the 29-year-old playmaker didn't stop there, with Valencia striker David Villa saying that Xavi was instrumental to Spain's success at Euro 2008.

"It's hard to understand the success of national team without Xavi on the pitch. Undoubtedly, his vision of the game and his personality have been instrumental in Spain being the current European champions and is why we are considered one of the favourites for the forthcoming World Cup," he remarked.
