After finally getting involved with the international team, Sevilla winger Jesus Navas is hoping that he can secure a place in Vicente Del Bosque's Spain squad for next year's World Cup in South Africa.

Navas, who turns 24 next week, has so far resisted the opportunity to join the national team set-up as a result of severe anxiety and homesickness, but now appears to have addressed these problems after making himself available for international duty just last week.

He acknowledges that the other players in the squad have been a big help in enabling him to settle in and have advised him to simply enjoy his time in the squad.

"There are colleagues I played alongside with in the [Spain] Under-21 team, some that I already knew and as people they are awesome. Then I had the opportunity to be with them on the pitch, but on and off the pitch they are very human. They have congratulated me for being here, and said to enjoy these moments," he said at a press conference.

"At all times I relied on working along the same line, I had to take the appropriate steps for this moment to arrive. I hope to go [to South Africa], I want to do well and enjoy the moment and have more opportunities here."

Navas is likely to make his debut in one of La Furia Roja's friendlies this week against Argentina this weekend, or Austria next week.
