'San Iker' is expected to start in goal for Spain when they face Argentina on Saturday evening and will win his 100th cap for his country, having made his debut in 2000 against Sweden.
"For me, Iker is the best in the world," Villa enthused to Marca.
"The three 'keepers that we have in the national team [Casillas, Pepe Reina and Diego Lopez] are, in my opinion, among the best five in the world.
"It's fortunate for the outfield players to know that we have such great people behind us. To analyse a player, you must always look at the statistics and it's hard to find a 'keeper who has achieved as much as Iker.
"I'm proud to share a dressing room with him here and to have him in my team."
With Casillas on the verge of 100 caps for la Furia Roja, Villa is hopeful that he can achieve the same feat.
"It's very difficult - that's shown by the fact that Iker is only the third player in [Spain's] history to achieve that," he mused. "Maybe I will reach 100, but I think it'll be hard.
"The important thing is the everyday stuff - to keep enjoying la Seleccion by playing and scoring goals. The main thing is to enjoy being here and feeling so important when you pull on the Spanish shirt."
