Atletico Madrid playmaker Jose Manuel Jurado has said that he is happy to have signed a contract extension with Los Colchoneros, and added that his team have the quality to get out of their current situation.

The 23-year-old midfielder joined Los Colchoneros from Real Madrid in 2006, and following a successful loan spell at Mallorca last season, has established himself as a regular for the Rojiblancos.

The former Spain Under-21 international has put pen to paper on a deal that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2012/13 season, according to AS.

"I'm happy about the renewal. It is a sign that I am doing things right and that the club is counting on me," Jurado declared.

"This is my best moment with Atletico, the previous stage was not great in truth, and now I'm more confident, more comfortable here, and have more experience than last time."

"We would like to see ourselves higher [in the league table], but right now we are taking things as they come, and all I expect is that everything goes well from now, working hard and hopefully we can win a couple games in a row to get stronger.

"This is football and there are times when there are no explanations for things that happen. The truth is that no team wants to be down there [at the bottom of the table]. We have what it takes to be higher, and we will try to prove it."
