Real Madrid's Esteban Granero has defended veteran team-mate Guti, following recent controversy surrounding the 33-year-old midfielder, whilst he also insisted that his team can beat Barcelona at Camp Nou later this month.
"From the beginning Guti has been very important for this team. He has great quality and after his injury we felt his absence, but I'm sure that soon he will be on the team," Granero said, as quoted by AS.
"Guti is the second captain and we need him. I learn a lot from him. I think the issues that have been written about are exaggerated.
"This team can beat anyone. I am convinced that we will have a great game against Barcelona, and that's going to serve to push us above them in the table."
The 22-year-old continued by saying that the players are fully behind their "demanding" coach Manuel Pellegrini, who Granero says he enjoys working for.
He added, "He's a very demanding coach [Pellegrini] and I like it because it helps me improve. I had always supported him, he speaks to the truth and has shown confidence in me, and throughout this squad. We are with him to the death."
