Ivan Alonso Keen To Move On After Espanyol Exit Copa Against Getafe
The Uruguayan is unconcerned by a lack of goals...
Espanyol striker Ivan Alonso keen for his side to return their focus to the Primera Liga after they were knocked out of the Copa del Rey in the fourth round by Getafe.
The Blanc i Blau won't have long to wait to redress the balance after their disappointing defeat against Geta as the two sides meet again in the Primera Liga in November 22.
"The timetable does not allow us to breathe and we must focus on the league and in ten days we have a very important game against Getafe," the Uruguayan declared.
"The elimination leaves you annoyed, because the Copa is an official tournament, a beautiful competition and nobody likes losing."
The 30-year-old is not too concerned about the lack of goals from his side as he believes if they maintain their level of performance the goals will eventually follow.
"Against [Sporting] Gijon we played good football and also against Getafe. All we need is to take some of the opportunities we get. Last year it was also discussed that we needed goals and they ended up coming. I do not think we should worry," Alonso remarked.
