Real Madrid Consider Move For Filipe Luis Of Deportivo La Coruna - Report
Having nearly signed for Barcelona in the summer, the Brazilian could now move back to Real Madrid...
Real Madrid are weighing up a winter move to re-sign Filipe Luis from Deportivo de La Coruna to bolster their options at left-back, according to a report from Cadena SER.
Los Merengues spent €250 million this summer but still have concerns over their defence and do not see Marcelo or Royston Drenthe as being reliable enough to compete with Alvaro Arbeloa.
Instead, a new acquisition could be on the cards, with the impressive Filipe being considered by the club's board after receiving several good reports.
The 24-year-old has impressed with the Galicians since joining them in 2006, but he longed to make a success of himself in Spanish football at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Four years ago Filipe joined Madrid's B team, Castilla, on loan for a season. Despite making 37 appearances, he was allowed to return to Rentistas.
Depor saw his potential and after two seasons on loan at the Riazor made the move permanent. He has become a regular in Miguel Angel Lotina's team.
Barcelona appeared to be on the verge of signing the Brazilian, who had trials with Ajax in 2004, but Depor's attempts to bluff more money out of the Catalans backfired.
With Filipe desperate to sign for the European champions, his club continued to edge up his asking price and the Blaugrana instead turned to Inter's Maxwell to bolster their rearguard.
