Bojan Krkic Buoyed By Barcelona Copa del Rey Goals
Having had his opportunities at the top reduced, the young striker took advantage of his cup appearance, striking a confident-boosting brace...
The 19-year-old netted his brace on a night when all five goals came from homegrown stars, and it was a boost to his confidence to show that he can still produce for the Blaugrana.
After seeing his chances limited last season, Bojan may have to rely on the Copa del Rey to impress coach Pep Guardiola this term, but he has started well.
“What makes a striker happy is scoring goals. It's hard when you don't score, but tonight I enjoyed myself and I'm very happy," he was quoted as saying by Barca's official website.
“As a player you just want to play - that's what makes you happy. Now I just want to keep on working and be part of this team.
“It might have been deemed an easy tie, but Leon played good football. The important thing was to get through to the next round.
“Madrid's defeat shows that you always have to have humility."
Bojan has to compete with Zlatan Ibrahimovic for the central position up front in Guardiola's squad, and he recognises that he faces a tough task.
“I'm 19 and I have to keep improving and take the chances that come my way," he continued.
“It's logical that 'Ibra' plays a lot - he's a world class star and cost the club a lot of money”.
