Supporters Will Carry Athletic Bilbao To Victory In Copa del Rey - President
The chief is hopeful that the San Mames faithful will play a vital role in los Leones' cup match with Rayo Vallecano...
Club president Fernando Garcia Macua has called on the fans to help the team through the match, as he knows the type of intimidating atmosphere that the Basque faithful can produce.
"When San Mames produces that chemistry, that special communion between fans and players in the sense of achieving a goal, it's very difficult for it to escape us," he enthused to Marca.
"[The game against Rayo] could be such an occasion for this special relationship to lift the team.
"The first thing to do in order to get a positive result is to believe in it," Macua continued, stating that the club have adopted the right attitude in that "they will fight to stay in a competition that gave [them] so much joy last season".
However, the president knows that Rayo will be a difficult opponent to overcome on Wednesday night.
"[Rayo are] a good team, and although they are currently going through a bad run, they have their own weapons and their own capabilities. They are at a good level in the Segunda Division, which is a very difficult league and they will not make things easy," he concluded.
