Real Zaragoza & Valencia Pay Tribute To Stricken Former Player Fernando Caceres
Caceres remains in a critical condition with a bullet lodged in his brain...
Caceres was shot in the head last week in an attempted robbery while driving his car and remains in a critical condition in Buenos Aires with a bullet lodged in his brain.
The 40-year-old played for Los Blanquillos for three season in the mid nineties and later played for Valencia and Celta Vigo, playing 339 games in La Liga.
The first eleven of both outfits, including former international team-mate Roberto Ayala, posed behind a banner reading 'Animo Caceres', a message of encouragment to the stricken former player, while another banner in the Mestalla read "Hang in There Caceres".
Valencia won the game 3-1 thanks to goals from Juan Mata, David Villa and Pablo Hernandez. Abel Aguilar scored for Zaragoza.
