Juan Carlos Mandia Bemoans Racing's Poor Luck In Athletic Bilbao Defeat
The under-fire coach was silent on speculation regarding his position at the club following another defeat...
Goals from Carlos Gurpegui and Andoni Iraola handed Bilbao a comfortable win, and despite Racing enjoying long spells of possession they could not break through the Basque outfit’s staunch defensive unit.
Mandia told journalists after the match that he felt that the performance of his players was worthy of at least a point, commenting, “I thought that the match went well, we deserved to get ahead and if that had happened then the game would have been different.
“It is a difficult situation that the players find themselves in.”
Mandia also faced a number of questions regarding his future at the club, with Racing positioned precariously above the relegation zone and with no home win in the 2009/10 season.
“I hope to be taking charge of many training sessions and I will not stop trying for what is best for Racing.
“I do not answer questions about my future.”
Racing’s next clash is against Salamanca in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday evening.
